| About Chelsea Chelsea is America's premier
clock manufacturing company. Their history is rich. Elvis was a fan, often purchasing in quantities larger than life. U.S. Presidents and Secretaries of State frequently presented visiting dignitaries with a Chelsea clock. From Teddy Roosevelt to Bill Clinton, there has always been a Chelsea in the White House. Over the years, Chelsea has done major projects with the U.S. Navy, Williamsburg Reproductions, Tiffany Studios, the Smithsonian and numerous other well known firms. Major corporations and institutions world wide select Chelsea clocks for their award and recognition programs. Clockmakers from around the world - five of the six inhabited continents - hand craft clocks in a building designed as a clock factory for Chelsea in 1897. Bench skills and machining skills were first learned in far away places like England, Europe, Russia and the far East. This diversity of skills is today blended together to produce an outstanding collection of timepieces for your gift giving needs. All Chelsea clocks and barometers are backed by the manufacturer's guarantee supported by a complete factory service facility. Staffed with experienced clockmakers, the Chelsea service facility expertly performs warranty and post warranty service.
Choosing an important gift..... When you choose a gift, you want it to reflect on you. You want it to be unique as well as appreciated. From the very beginning in 1897, when the first Chelsea clocks were made, it has become the tradition for U.S. Presidents to present these unique timepieces to visiting heads of state. They are so much appreciated that the presidents themselves have adorned the White House with Chelsea Clocks. No matter what your gift occasion - wedding, birthday, anniversary, graduation of the many other "times" you search for the "right" gift - you can be certain a Chelsea clock is both unique and appreciated. As a business award and recognition gift, there is no more appropriate choice than a timepiece. Your recipient will appreciate its beauty and function and place it where it can be seen often. Your tastefully engraved corporate message and design is a constant reminder of your thoughtfulness. And there is no more prestigious clock than a Chelsea clock. From multi-national corporations to local businesses and institutions, Chelsea clocks are chosen for award and recognition programs and for corporate events.

A valuable work of art is often mysterious. The artist uses elements of material, design, and technique to create an object of lasting beauty.
Take material for
instance. All valuable works of art have one
thing in common. They are created with enduring
material. Material that will survive for
centuries. Material whose patina becomes even
more
luxurious with age. A design created with inferior material rapidly loses its value. Plastics, plated light metals with their thin veneer and soft woods with a hard wood stain applied - these designs won't hold their value. Chelsea's artisans work with forged brass to create exquisitely beautiful clocks. Brass forged in the foundry. An age-old technique of intense pressure to form a material of incredible density and weight. Just the right density for Chelsea's artisans to shape and finish the piece flawlessly. With a weight that says your Chelsea clock is a valuable work of art. Forged Brass - A solid reason why you'll see and feel the difference! The Special Grand Collection.... In the tradition of the finest concert grand piano on today's stage, Timepieces in The Special Grand Collection are built at Chelsea with the same painstaking attention to detail today as they were one hundred years ago.
The wood pedestal
is joined together with three large sections of solid
mahogany, fit with great care and hand rubbed to a deep
finish. The pedestal's graceful curves are a
perfect compliment to the clock's case.
The clock's forged
brass case is formed under intense pressure creating a
material so dense it can be flawlessly finished and
produce a tonal quality for the chiming movement
reminiscent of a fine concert piano. A chiming
you will come to anticipate and cherish in your home of
office. The weight of the forged brass bezel and glass crystal is so great it requires a specially designed cast hinge that fits the contours of the case and bezel.
The clocks large
diameter (8 1/2 inches) brass dial is silvered using a Arguably, the most impressive part of the clocks in this collection are the parts you cannot see - hidden behind the beautiful face. The Chelsea wind-up mechanical striking movement is the finest in the world. Over three hundred precision parts made with the same care today as when the movement was first patented in America and England in 1898. Its gold plated wheels and polished pinions are machined with such precision they are just press fit together. Timekeeping accuracy is assured. Best of all though, the clock's leather tipped hammer will sound the hours for you and future generations for centuries to come. |
